Ways to De-Stress on Move Day

It does not matter if you are dealing with a long distance moving company or if you have moving pods being delivered to load before you hit the road, you are bound to feel your stress levels rise. Chances are pretty good that you barely slept the night before too because your mind was racing with things that still need to be done. The most beneficial thing you can do for yourself is consider these helpful ways to de-stress on moving day.

  • Get Plenty of Sleep – Starting the day exhausted or in a hurry because you wake up late is no way to begin. It is essential that you get quality sleep the night before. Chamomile tea or meditation before bed will quiet your mind.

  • Yoga – You do not have to do a 90-minute Vinyasa Flow, but even a 15-minute restorative practice will prepare you to start your day relaxed and with a positive mindset.

  • Brisk Walk – This is one of the best ways to de-stress on moving day because your body will produce endorphins. These natural painkillers make you happy. You are probably saying there is no time for a walk, right? Get up 15 minutes earlier. Seriously, the only thing standing between you and a peaceful day is a 10-minute power walk with Fido before the piano movers arrive.

  • Eat a Healthy Breakfast – Food plays a huge role in your mood. If you start your day with sugar, your blood sugar levels will peak and crash, and promote mood swings. Eat a filling meal with plenty of fresh fruit. The natural sugars will jumpstart your energy without the negative effects.

  • Create a List – One of the easiest ways to de-stress on move day is to be fully prepared. Have a moving checklist handy so you know exactly what needs to be done. If you can reference a list, your mind can relax.
